Rowing SA and its Clubs, Schools, and Members are privileged to have access to a range of public waterways to conduct rowing and rowing activities. These include West Lakes, Torrens Lake, Port Adelaide River, and Murray River. In use of these public waterways all users have an obligation to ensure their actions, both on and off the water do not compromise the safety and wellbeing of themselves or others. Coaches have a significant role to play in this and it is imperative that all coaches are aware of, understand, and are capable of following traffic flow patterns and important safety information before getting on the water.
We continually look at ways to advance our safety practices and following a recent review of water operations we seek confirmation that all active coaches (individuals involved coaching in any capacity) have read and understand the Rowing SA Safety and Training Policy, the Rowing SA Weather and Condition Management Policy, and are aware of the terms of use for West Lakes.
Our use of West Lakes also now requires us to maintain a database of those coaching at the venue. However, we feel that it is appropriate that all active coaches no matter which waterway they coach on should confirm their acknowledgement of these important rules.
