Some background:

All day long I’ve been finding myself praying over our city, and the confluence of forces that have played out over the past weeks.  I’m deeply saddened by the loss of a young life, the imprisonment of one of our public safety officers who has a young family, the murder of over 430 people so far this year, and the thousands of other lives which have been destroyed by injury, drugs, or other forms of violence.  There are whole sections of our city where only ~30-40% of the kids graduate from high school, and ~4% from college.  This is a terrible situation that just should not be.  Chicago is our city and it should be better than this.

But there is hope, and there are transformational solutions.  At this brunch Arloa Sutter, founder and Managing Director of Breakthrough Urban Ministries, we'll lead our discussions.  She’s devoted her life to getting underneath the forces that cause this, and building solutions that empower and give hope and purpose to kids and families in of the worst sections of our city.  Her story is amazing, and we’ll have time to hear it and talk with her and ask her questions about what’s going on in there. You'll be able to connect with your section mates and join in table discussions on what can be done to stop the violence. Guarateed to be a stimulating  discussion!!
