Communities, Sport and Recreation (CSR) is undertaking a review of the Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) training model In Tasmania.

This review will inform future training for MPIOs in Tasmania as well as inform additional ways that CSR can support the ongoing development of Member Protection initiatives in sport.

MPIOs play an important role in sport. They provide information and guidance on complaints procedures, they are the 'go to' person if you want to discuss problems at your club or association, particularly if you are considering making a formal complaint.

MPIOs are responsible for providing information about a person's rights, responsibilities and options when making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as providing support to the parties involved in a complaint during the process.

Depending on the sport MPIOs may operate within a club, or at regional, state or national level. They can also be freelance (not linked directly to the sport) or provide member protection support across a number of sports.

The MPIO is not a person who investigates complaints, or advises/advocates for the complainant.

This survey is open from Friday 23 October 2020 and closes on Friday 6 November 2020 and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Please also share this survey with any relevant people at your sporting organisation, including your Board and Committee members and encourage them to have their say.
