Asteroid Autumn - Webinar Hosted by NASA

NASA seeks to expand awareness of science priorities, missions, and major milestones with organizations with an interest in sharing STEM content with student and public audiences. To achieve this aim, NASA is offering a series of science updates to provide technical background, current education and outreach plans, and opportunities to collaborate.

A convergence of NASA science and exploration missions provide an opportunity to expand human understanding of asteroids. In September, OSIRIS-REx will return rocks and dust collected from an asteroid, giving us a window into the time when the Sun and planets were forming. Later this fall, Psyche will launch, allowing us to explore the core exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet. Lucy, which is on a 12-year tour of the Trojan asteroids, will have its first significant milestone on November 1.

Learn about:
  • The science and technology behind NASA’s asteroid missions
  • Early findings and what we hope to learn over time
  • Plans for public and student engagement in the missions
