2019 Summer Institute Series: Interpreting Skills Training - Registration of Interest

Description of 2019 Summer Institute Series Course Options

The HHSC Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) has partnered with various entities to offer several 'Summer Institute' trainings again this year!  Each training in the Summer Institute Series consists of intensive, week-long interpreting skill building workshops, with a specific target audience. Participants will have the unique opportunity to practice and take a mock test, both at the beginning and at the end of the training week!
 
At this time, DHHS plans to sponsor the following four options in the 2019 Summer Institute Series:

Fort Worth Summer Institute
June 2 - 9, 2019
Tarrant County College
Registration Fee: $100.00
Participant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have (1) already passed the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), and (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 65)

Houston Summer Institute
June 23 - 27, 2019
University of Houston
Registration Fee: $100.00
Participant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have either (1) graduated from an ITP program and taken the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), OR (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 70)
 
South Texas/Valley Summer Institute
July 14 - 19, 2019
University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley
Registration Fee: $100.00
Participant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have (1) already passed the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), and (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 65)

San Antonio Summer Institute
July 28 - August 2, 2019
San Antonio College
Registration Fee: $100.00
Participant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have (1) already passed the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), and (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 65)

*Participants are responsible for their own arrangements and expenses related to transportation, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc. 
*Dates and locations are subject to change.
 
Once you have completed this registration of interest, a DHHS staff member will evaluate your eligibility and will contact you with more information.
