Request to Host an Urban Fellow Summer 2026

Thank you for your interest in hosting an Urban Fellow during the summer 2026 session. The summer 2026 session will take place from June 1, 2026-August 7, 2026.
The deadline to request an Urban Fellow Intern is April 17, 2026.
What is the Urban Fellows Program?
The Urban Fellows Program is an opportunity for local college students and recent graduates to spend ten weeks interning at the City of Memphis. Each Urban Fellow is assigned to an area of City government where they can work on challenging projects that relate to their studies and interests. Urban Fellows are paid $15/hour for their work. City of Memphis hosts two sessions of Urban Fellow interns per year: Summer and Fall.
How can my office receive an Intern?

By completing this document, you are authorizing the program coordinator to place an Urban Fellow intern within your department based on the responsibilities and KSA's (knowledge, skills and abilities) you list below. All hiring decisions are made by the program coordinator after confirming with the manager/mentor of the Urban Fellow. If your department requires any special requirements such as an extensive background screening, please mention those in the "Special Requirements" field below.

Who pays the intern's salary?

Urban Fellows interns are compensated at $15/hr without benefits. Urban Fellows interns may work up to 28 hours per week (minimum 15 hours), at the discretion of their mentor/hiring manager. Urban Fellows compensation will be covered either by HR or the hosting division pending approval.
