Please read the following before submitting your application for the Strong Start Ambassador Program.
Strong Start for Children is a community outreach campaign aimed at mobilizing parents, educators, community, and business leaders in making early childhood education a priority in the State of Nevada. We are looking for parents like YOU who believe in the values of high quality early childhood education for ALL children and want to help make a difference in Nevada.
By becoming a Strong Start Ambassador, you will be given the skills and tools to speak up for early childhood education and help make a change in Nevada. Strong Start Ambassadors will learn how to share your story, how to create a bill, how to testify in front of the legislature, how to use social media for social good, and many more skills for creating real change.
As a Strong Start Ambassador, you will be asked to commit to attend monthly advocacy meeting and trainings. You can attend these meeting in-person or by video-conference. Please let us know if you have any issues that would prevent you from coming to the monthly meeting (i.e. no internet for video-conference or lack of transportation). We do not want these things to keep you from using your voice to create change and we will work with you to find solutions.
Before signing and submitting your application, please be aware that you are committing to participate in monthly meetings. Please be prepared to dedicate anywhere from 5 to 10 hours per month of engagement including but not limited to:
-Parent advocate meetings (via teleconference/web conference) -Advocacy workshops and training opportunities -Testifying at behalf of Early Childhood Education at the State or local city councils. -Writing letters to representatives -Sharing your child care story via social media -Attending relevant community events -Speak and collaborate with diverse groups
All selected applicants will be required to attend Orientation on July 11th, 2018. Location will be confirmed at a later date.
Selected participants will receive a small stipend from Strong Start for Children. Stipend rewards include a $50 gift card for each training completed throughout the program.
