We are pleased to offer our FREE STUDENT MATINEE PROGRAM to all High Schools within San Diego County. To apply, this form must be filled out completely and submitted before the deadline of Wednesday, November 28.

We will accept only one application per school.

In addition to the free tickets for your students, The Old Globe Education Department will send a professional Teaching Artist to your school in the days before the show to conduct a standards-based workshop with your students to enhance the theatre experience. These workshops are offered at no charge and are an integral part of the matinee program and are required for all classes attending the student matinees.

Schools may request up to 77 tickets per matinee. This number should include a maximum of 1 adult per 10 students.

Unless otherwise notified, all matinees begin at 10:30am. Schools are required to arrive at the theatre by 10:00am.

This year, we are pleased to offer all High Schools in San Diego County:

PYGMALION (by George Bernard Shaw) - Renowned director Nicholas Martin returns to the Globe to direct Shaw’s most popular modern masterpiece (which Lerner and Loewe adapted as the musical My Fair Lady). The poor flower-seller Eliza Doolittle is in the right place at the right time, just as speech professor Henry Higgins makes a friendly wager that he can change her accent and pass her off as the epitome of English society. But will she survive Higgins’ boorish bullying? Brought to lavish life as only The Old Globe can, PYGMALION is the funny, touching, unforgettable battle of wits between two of the theatre’s most iconic characters.

PYGMALION will be performed in the Old Globe Theatre.

HENRIK IBSEN'S A DOLL'S HOUSE (adapted by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt) - In a time of financial desperation, a young wife makes a dangerous decision, taking an illegal risk to save her husband's life. Years later, her secret comes back to haunt her, and its revelation will shake the foundations of her entire world. Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE is a true landmark of modern drama.

A DOLL'S HOUSE will be performed in the Sheryl & Harvey White Theatre.
Please note that The Old Globe’s Free Student Matinee Program provides the opportunity for students to experience theatrical performances of the highest professional standards. No changes are made to the productions for the sake of young audiences. Teachers and administrators should be conscious of the fact that the productions may contain strong language and adult themes. Teachers should plan to follow the performance with discussions and activities to help students to put these elements into context and to include the theatrical experience in the larger learning environment. Our Pre-Show Workshops and our Study Guides will help teachers in this regard. Please contact our Education Department if you have questions or concerns about the content of any show.
