Welcome to our survey

About this Survey:

Maynooth Students’ Union (MSU) is the representative body of all students of Maynooth University and St. Patrick's College Maynooth. We represent your opinions and uphold your rights throughout your time in university.

The aim of this survey is to gather student feedback which MSU will present to Maynooth University to inform the development of a Sports Strategy and proposed Student Levy spend.

In particular, this survey will gather feedback and opinion on the proposed development of sports and recreational facilities and redevelopment and expansion of the sports centre.

The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. No personal details are required or collected.

About the Student Levy:

In 2015, Maynooth University proposed to increase the student levy to €150 in four steps over the following four years, commencing in the 2015/16 academic year. The levy is subsequently linked to general inflation and may increase thereafter.

The student levy of €150 is an additional charge to the undergraduate student contribution of €3,000 and is paid by all undergraduate students.

As per the recommendation of the Higher Education Authority, this levy was introduced in consultation and with the consent of the student body; through a referendum facilitated by Maynooth Students' Union.

Students, through Maynooth Students' Union, are represented in all decisions regarding the use of the levy, including but not limited to planning, design, and management of facilities and infrastructure.

The purpose of the levy is to fund specific additional facilities and infrastructure for students. The three main projects are:
  • A new Student Centre to provide accommodation for Maynooth Students' Union, Clubs and Societies, a wide variety of leisure and entertainment facilities including a new bar and venue and general student meeting, social, and recreational space.
  • A very significant development of sports and recreational facilities and a redevelopment and expansion of the sports centre to provide general and high performance gymnasia, a swimming pool, and a variety of other specialist sports facilities.
  • A major new cultural development for theatre, film, art, and music.
The levy may also fund:
  • Other smaller projects delivered separately, such as a proposed commuter centre.
  • Maynooth Students' Union's affiliation fee to the Union of Students in Ireland.
Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.
