For members of the Halls and Hawk Lakes POA, Lake Bernard POA, and Little Silver Rainbow Lake POA
Supported by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and led by the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations (FOCA), this survey is part of a pilot project to help rural and northern communities protect their local drinking water sources—many of which are not currently covered by provincial Source Water Protection Plans.
In 2024, FOCA completed Phase 1 of this initiative by conducting a professional technical assessment of the Crego Lake community, mapping vulnerable areas and identifying potential risks to local drinking water systems.
Now, in Phase 2 (2025), FOCA is working with your lake association to:
- Support a community-led Source Water Protection Plan, and
- Develop a plain-language roadmap for other lake communities to follow.
This short, anonymous survey will help:
- Assess local awareness and understanding of drinking water risks
- Identify where and how residents are sourcing their drinking water
- Provide best practices for drinking water protection
All responses are anonymous and will only be used in aggregate.
Thank you for your participation!
