Solar Technical Assistance Team (STAT) Solar Tools Training

Join NREL Experts in a full-day solar decision making tools workshop

The NREL Solar Technical Assistance Team (STAT) Network is hosting a one-day training for states on how to use NREL Solar tools to inform decisions. The focus of the meeting will be on the use of the System Advisor Model (SAM), JEDI, dGen and ReOpt. This training session will provide staff an opportunity to learn what type of analysis can be done and what solar policy questions can be answered using a variety of NREL’s solar tools. Attendees are encouraged to bring project specific data to analyze during  an in depth hands-on training with expert SAM users from the lab.

When

Tuesday August 22nd from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Where

NREL Golden Campus: 15013 Denver W Pkwy, Golden, CO 80401

Who Should Attend

The training is specifically geared toward enabling energy office staff and state organization staff [N1] working to directly  inform solar energy decisions.

What to Expect

This training will get into the details of financing energy projects and how to use SAM—a complex performance/financial modeling tool.  In addition, the training will provide attendees with time to learn about three other tools at the laboratory; JEDI, dGEN and ReOpt. There will be an overview of each of the tools followed by round-table discussions with the experts at the lab to answer questions about the use and applicability of these tools to specific projects.

Attendees should bring information on a solar project or policy either currently being planned or in progress. Participants will work with trainers to create project models and summarize relevant model outputs. In addition, attendees can meet with experts to define types of analysis they should consider for their policies and projects.
