Living with the Coast Workshop: A workshop for shoreline property owners concerned about erosion.
Saturday, September 23, 2017; 9:30am-12:30pm
Fidalgo Bay Resort Convention Center

Shoreline landowners in Skagit County are invited to attend a FREE workshop on coastal process and shoreline erosion management. Learn how you can protect and maintain your shoreline property and its value whether you are considering removing or repairing shoreline armor and/or installing softshore options. Workshop topics include:
• Erosion management
• Armor removal and soft shore protection options
• Enhancing property values
• Native vegetation for slope stability & habitat

A limited number of free site visits by coastal erosion specialists will also be offered to qualifying property owners. During the site visit, qualifying property owners will be provided with specific recommendations regarding management of their shoreline properties.

Who should attend?

Consider attending this workshop and apply for a free site visit if you:
- Live on a bluff and have experienced erosion, drainage, or vegetation issues and want to find ways to reduce impacts to your property.
- Have a broad beach or low bank and want tips on how to protect your property while promoting healthy marine ecosystems.
- Are considering removing or repairing hard armoring on your shoreline.

The workshops will consist of a two hour classroom presentation and a beach walk/field trip afterward near the resort and/or Similk Bay. Please bring clothing appropriate to the weather and sturdy shoes for the field trip.

This outreach effort is a project of the Northwest Straits Foundation in partnership with the Skagit County Marine Resources Committee. Funding is provided by the Washington Departments of Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources, Skagit MRC, and US Environmental Protection Agency.
