Strategic Direction Plan, Simon's Town

Simon’s Town’s history very much defines its character and even its culture. Often described as a small Victorian sea port town it has attracted permanent residents to whom that character appeals. This character, combined with its rich history, environment, plus its proximity to Cape Point and the City of Cape Town has also attracted domestic and international tourists, many of whom return regularly and even invest in property.

Within South Africa’s 25 year ‘cultural’ evolution Simon’s Town, as a small Victorian town with the SA Navy at its core has perhaps failed to establish its competitive ‘position’ as a tourist destination and to reaffirm its relevance in contemporary South Africa. The Town wishes to correct this by developing a Strategic Vision and Plan for Simon’s Town. As part of a strategic process the voluntary Associations (Business, Civic, Historical, etc) are undertaking some qualitative research among key stakeholders including residents, businesses and visitors.

You have visited or are visiting Simon’s Town currently and we are extremely interested to get your perspective regarding the town. Please take a little time out to share your opinions, thoughts and ideas. Whereas the majority of questions are ‘closed’ so as to facilitate evaluation and analysis there is, we believe, ample opportunity for the respondent to submit any ‘other’ comments. Thank you in anticipation for your constructive response.
