Censorship of Sikhs on Social Media Your Information The Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) is collecting incidents of social media censorship to create a database and understand the scope of the issue, as it relates to the Sikh community. If you or someone you know has had content censored or removed from any major social media platform please fill out this form. Thank you for taking the time to fill out this form. Please report each incident separately. Background: On June 3, 2020, #Sikh was blocked on both Facebook and Instagram for over three hours. This block coincided with major historical events in the Sikh community, including the Indian government's attack on the Sikh Community known as Operation Bluestar. Reports of posts, accounts, and images related to Sikhi and Sikh history continue to come in.Starting in late 2020 and continuing today, accounts and posts related to the #FarmersProtest are being suspended and blocked, including in certain countries. To collect the data necessary to advocate for change with the technology companies and demonstrate the scope of the problem to governments, we have created this survey. When responding, please be as detailed as possible, so we may determine if certain keywords or images are being blocked.A Note About Online Harassment:If you would like to share information about a case of online harassment, including "trolling" where your post or account has not been removed from the site, please visit saldef.org/farmersprotest for the Online Harassment Reporting tool.If you feel your life, property, or that of another person is in danger, please contact your local law enforcement immediately.
