Previous Land Use Requirements for Cereal and Small Grain Seed Crops
IntroductionThe Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) regularly reviews its certification requirements, standards and procedures to ensure they reflect current scientific knowledge, technological developments, stakeholder needs, market conditions and production realities.
The
Canadian Regulations and Procedures for Pedigreed Seed Crop Production (Circular 6) sets out the requirements that seed growers and seed crops must meet for seed crop certification. The crop-specific standards for cereal and small grain seed crops currently include previous land use requirements intended to minimize the risk of varietal purity contamination from volunteer plants or unintended carryover seed from previous crops.
The purpose of this survey is to gather stakeholder feedback on CSGA's proposed revisions to the previous land use requirements for all classes of pedigreed cereal and small grain seed crops (Select, Foundation, Registered and Certified status), including barley, buckwheat, canary seed, durum, flax, oat, rye, triticale and wheat.
Additional background information and context are available in the accompanying
consultation document.
This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain
open until 5 p.m. ET on February 1, 2027.
CSGA greatly appreciates your feedback. All responses will remain confidential in accordance with CSGA’s
