9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance

20th Anniversary

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the City of Richmond will join our nation to pause and honor the 20th anniversary of the lives lost in the terrorist acts on 9/11/01. The city of Richmond's remembrance ceremony, memorial stair climb, and public safety fair will be held from 8-11 a.m. on 9/11/21 at City Stadium (3201 Maplewood Ave, Richmond, VA 23221). 

This day is also about national service, volunteering to honor the heroic and sacrificial service that first-responders and everyday citizens offered their fellow Americans. In this spirit, thank you for your interest in volunteering. Please select a project below that interests you. Registration will close at 5 p.m. on 9/9/21.
1.Please provide the following:
2.Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (1209 Admiral St.): – The Athletic Division needs volunteers from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. to assist with cleaning and organizing the storage unit that contains youth athletic equipment.  [CANCELLED]
3.Patrick Henry Park (2400 E. Broad St.): Fall mulching tree wells and flower beds (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) [25 volunteers: 25 slots filled; CLOSED]

4.The McShin Foundation Recovery Fest (2300 Dumbarton Rd): Volunteers needed for event set-up [8 volunteers] 9am -12 pm.
5.The McShin Foundation Recovery Fest: Volunteers needed for event clean-up and breakdown [10 volunteers: 2 slot filled; 8 slots still open] 4-6 p.m.
6.Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities: Invasive Species Removal at The Wetlands (3395 Landria Dr, Richmond, VA 23225) [15 volunteers: 5 slots filled; 10 still open] 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
