Scott Joplin House State Historic Site CDP Survey #2 |
Introduction
Conceptual development plans (CDPs) guide the future use and development at each state park and historic site. CDPs support the mission, purpose and direction of each facility. These long-range plans outline area use, site goals, development objectives, research needs and project phasing while taking into consideration the significant natural, cultural and recreational resources of the park or site. This survey is part of the division’s ongoing effort to ensure that the public has input on state park and historic site development.
Site Mission
The mission of the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site is to interpret the role of Scott Joplin in the development of American music through the syncopated musical genre of ragtime, preserve the Joplin residence, and provide opportunities for the appreciation and understanding of the African-American community's contributions to music and the performing arts. In addition, the site will be developed as a collaborative hub for outreach programming, urban initiatives, and community partnerships compatible with Missouri State Parks’ mission.
