Scott AFB - Environmental Restoration Community Involvement Survey

Scott AFB is seeking community feedback regarding its Environmental Restoration Program (ERP) to update the installation’s Community Involvement Plan (CIP). The Scott AFB ERP is responsible for cleaning up contamination from past operations on and surrounding the installation.
Scott AFB is also assessing community interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB). RABs provide a forum for the base, the community, and regulatory partners to discuss and exchange information on current and future environmental cleanup projects.
Community input is a critical element of the environmental cleanup process. Your input will be incorporated into the CIP to assist Scott AFB in developing effective and appropriate ways to keep the public informed and engaged in the ERP.

12.A Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) is a local stakeholder group, which includes government entities, local businesses, and concerned citizens that meets regularly to discuss environmental clean-up activities occurring on an active or former military installation, like Scott AFB. A RAB facilitates and improves communication, outreach, and transparency between the military, the public, regulators, local governments, and interest groups for issues related to military cleanup activities. RABs offer an opportunity for the community to participate in the cleanup process and provide a forum for the Air Force to exchange information with the local community.

RAB member responsibilities include:

-- Volunteer to serve a two-year term

-- Devote approximately four to six hours each quarter to RAB business

-- Attend all RAB meetings

-- Provide individual input in an open, honest, and constructive manner

-- Represent and communicate community concerns to the RAB

-- Act as a conduit for the exchange of information

-- Review, evaluate, and comment on documents and other materials
