Northparkes Continuation Modification and E44 Mining Project

Introduction

The purpose of this Feedback Form is to gather initial community feedback on the Northparkes Continuation Project and E44 Mining Project as they commence the environmental and social assessment process. Feedback received will help inform the preparation of the Scoping Reports for both projects.

Northparkes Operations (Northparkes) is a copper and gold mine located 27 kilometres north-west of Parkes in the Central West of New South Wales. The site is wholly located within the Parkes Shire Local Government Area, Wiradjuri – Upper Bogan River Country.

Evolution Mining is the owner and operator of the Northparkes Joint Venture, which also includes Sumitomo Metal Mining Oceania Pty Ltd and SC Mineral Resources.

Northparkes has a residential focus, with over 500 employees onsite. Operations include open cut and underground mining, a processing facility and tailings storage facilities.

About the proposed projects

Northparkes Continuation Project

The Continuation Project seeks to extend mining and processing operations at Northparkes beyond the current approved operational period of 2032.

The project could allow operations to continue for an additional 15 to 20 years by mining additional resources identified at the existing Northparkes site, together with approved resources that have not yet been mined.

The project would require additional tailings capacity and some changes to existing infrastructure. A minor realignment of McClintocks Lane would also be required to allow mining of a new open cut resource known as E51.

E44 Mining Project

The E44 Mining Project is a proposed new mining operation located approximately 25 kilometres south-west of the existing Northparkes operation.

Ore mined from E44 would be transported to Northparkes for processing. Northparkes is currently undertaking studies to confirm the project design, including consideration of mining methods, water management, stakeholder feedback and potential haulage routes.

Three potential haulage routes have been identified for consultation and further assessment.

Both projects are currently in the scoping phase of the NSW development approval process.

Further details regarding the projects and map showing the location and basic elements of each project is available at northparkesprojects.com.
