Scona District Plan Amendment Survey

The purpose of this survey is to gauge support for the Garneau Community League's proposal to expand Garneau’s existing Special Character Residential Area through an amendment to the Scona District Plan.

Because this proposal involves rezoning parts of Garneau, it is crucial that we get feedback from property owners within the affected area. The level of support will be used to finalize the area included in the proposed amendment.
1.The Garneau Community League is proposing to expand the Garneau Special Character Area to include additional areas in Garneau that have community and heritage value as shown below.

To what degree do you agree with expansion of the Garneau Special Character Area corresponding DC1-6220 area?
2.Have any areas been missed, or should any areas be removed? Be as specific as possible and provide your reasons.
3.The Garneau Community League is also proposing to update the DC1-6220 zone. Proposed revisions could include the following:
  • Limiting Lodging Houses to only what currently legally exists
  • Limiting microsuites
  • Allowing backyard housing (garage suites and garden suites)
  • Adding design requirements for new development to be more sympathetic to the heritage character of the neighbourhood
