Mayfield Science Showcase 2018 |
Project Submission Form
Fellow Science Teachers,
On the evening of Thursday, March 15, 2018, we will have an opportunity to showcase the amazing science experiences that are occurring every day throughout the district at The Mayfield City Schools Science Showcase. Science teachers in all grades will have the opportunity to facilitate student-led presentations that broadcast the excitement that science brings to learning. We hope to showcase the innovative moments in science discovery that are taking place in our district in classrooms at every level.
To participate in the Science Showcase, we are not asking you to do anything different from what you are already doing. Rather, take note of the activities and projects that truly have motivated and excited students and decide whether those students could present these items at the Science Showcase. Also, please do not feel pressure to produce something "better" than another grade or building because there will be no judging as in the science fairs of the past.
The Science Showcase will take place throughout the campus of Mayfield High School. Your group of students (which could be as few as a couple and as many as your whole class) will be assigned a room in which they will make their presentation throughout the evening. Some groups might be doing a demonstration, others will showcase key projects that they constructed, while some groups may use video footage to recapture what went on in a previous experience earlier in the year. The choice is yours and there is no right or wrong way to participate.
If you feel that there is a project or activity that students would be excited to present, please complete the questions below. Your answers will help us plan for the event in terms of room assignments, programs, times of presentations, etc. Please submit your entry by Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
During the evening parents and community members attending the showcase will be able to rotate through various presentations. The Science Showcase will be a wonderful chance for the entire Mayfield community to see in action the science enrichment that is occurring throughout the district.
As your colleague, I sincerely thank you for your assistance in helping to produce what is sure to be a tremendous and empowering event for everyone involved.
Sincerely,
Bob Friel
