The fall sessions, the first in a series of two advocacy trainings, will discuss the importance of advocacy and the role of school leaders as advocates, provide an overview of the legislative process and discuss the different types of advocacy.
The fall sessions, the first in a series of two advocacy trainings, will discuss the importance of advocacy and the role of school leaders as advocates, provide an overview of the legislative process and discuss the different types of advocacy.
More importantly, you’ll learn how to:
· identify and arm yourself with the right facts and information
· determine your advocacy targets for each issue
· set your advocacy goals for each issue
· craft effective messages and tell meaningful stories
· successfully engage with elected officials and their staffs

The fall training is free and will be offered at 5 locations across the state. The training will last from 9am to 4pm at each location and lunch will be included.
A spring 2018 advocacy training will follow to build on information learned at the fall sessions. The spring session will include discussion on building legislative advocacy networks, using social media for advocacy and working with the media.
