About the Study
This form is for anyone interested in becoming a participant or supporter of a project being conducted by St. Leonard's Society of Canada, and CTLabs at Lansdowne Consulting. With support from CMHC, we are initiating a Solutions Lab called ‘Scaling Affordable Housing Options for Justice-Involved Youth’ under the federal government’s National Housing Strategy. This lab will create effective, affordable housing solutions for justice-involved youth with complex needs by identifying the core requirements for success, and then testing and scaling what works. By breaking down silos, it will bring together youth, housing providers, service organizations, and communities to co-design housing that is viable, scalable, and sustainable. During the lab, at least 10 new units with wrap-around supports will be delivered in Quinte West within a single building. In Ottawa, over 100 units will be created by scaling the successful Operation Come Home intermediary model, which is already operating with 30 units. The lab addresses key system gaps—such as youth being released without housing due to abrupt court discharges—and focuses on where systems interact or break down. By prototyping diverse solutions, the lab builds a practical roadmap for housing justice-involved youth, even in the absence of clear cross-sector accountability.

Who should be involved?

Lab Participant
: Anyone in Canada who is actively working in/supporting the youth justice or youth housing sectors, and wants to contribute their experience and perspective to Solutions Lab discussions.

Lab Supporter: Anyone interested in hearing news and updates about the Lab's progress.

What does it mean to be involved?

Lab Participant: you would receive communications about all of our upcoming events, workshops, and other opportunities to actively contribute to the work of the Lab. Attending workshops is one of the easiest ways to contribute to the Lab. Workshops are typically ~2 hours in length, and take place virtually. If you indicate you are interested in and able to attend an upcoming workshop, you would be expected to attend and engage with the workshop session you commit to. Calendar invitations will be circulated with all Lab Participants with the details for the workshops ahead of time. Workshop sessions are anticipated to be held quarterly over a roughly 1 year timeline, beginning in Fall 2025 and ending in Fall 2026.

Other opportunities to participate in the Lab can include undertaking research, sharing the work of the Lab through your channels and networks, and testing or piloting any of the findings that come from the Lab. More information about these items will be communicated to the Lab Participant list as they arise.

Lab Supporter: will receive periodic communications from the Internal Team about Lab updates and Lab progress.

Time Commitment

Lab Participants: Participation in the Lab is on an "opt-in" basis. Participation in all workshops in would amount to ~8 hours of time total. Any other participatory hours would depend on your level of interest.
