Recently we've learned that Transport for London (TfL) are planning to drastically alter the New Addington tram service. They plan to revert to the previous route of New Addington to Croydon and back via the Croydon loop.
For residents in New Addington this proposal will cut the direct route from New Addington to Wimbledon - having a major negative impact on journeys. No longer will New Addington residents have direct access to Purley Way shops, Valley Park, Mitcham or Wimbledon.
This is simply not acceptable.
Normally when something like this happens TfL or Croydon Council runs a consultation to find out what residents think before they make a decision. No such consultation has taken place.
These changes are being made without any consultation. The feeder buses (T31, T32 etc) have already been withdrawn, with vital bus routes redirected and now they are planning to reduce our beloved tram service. TfL seem not to care about the views of us New Addington residents.
TfL is run by the Labour Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. The current councillors in New Addington are also Labour. They've done nothing to fight this. They've done nothing to fight for New Addington.
As your local Conservative Candidates we will. We regularly use this service and we want to hear your views. We want Sadiq Khan to recognise that New Addington residents deserve to be properly consulted on any proposed changes to our transport network. The Labour Council and Labour Councillors should be listening to you, the residents, instead of keeping quiet and letting the Labour Mayor dictate to them what happens in our town.
