Built 102 years ago, Fairview stands on the precipice of demolition by neglect. The Friends of Fairview were able to stop proposals to demolish Fairview in 2006, 2007 and 2011, but it is gut-wrenching that for over twenty years, Council has not maintained it's own heritage-listed building.
Fairview should be an asset to the Community. It could serve as museum, a ranger station, an eco-retreat, an artist's residence, bushwalking accommodation or, at the bare minimum, as a historical site that communicates its unique heritage and history. It will serve none of these valuable purposes if it is allowed to be demolished.
