Purpose

Collaboration is a core value of Prostate Cancer Research, which is why we are offering a new type of seed funding to encourage collaboration between projects and research teams. This will offer a way to pool together resources and knowledge and accelerate innovation to achieve a shared goal towards the mission of improving prostate cancer outcomes. By providing projects with these collaborative seed grants, a greater impact can be achieved by working together. This may be between individuals, medical or research institutions, or organizations.

What is funded?

Applicants may request funding of up to £2,000.

Eligibility

Applications are accepted from academic or research institutions, or hospitals that are based in the UK. National or international collaborations will be considered as long as the award can be administered through a UK-based lead host institution.

The funding should boost prostate cancer research and build capacity in advanced prostate cancer research.

This funding may be used for but is not limited to:

· The costs of a joint experiment to test a new idea

· Transporting samples, equipment or cell lines between institutions

· Covering costs for researchers to visit each other to demonstrate techniques or provide training

· Networking or collaborative activities such as specialist group meetings, workshops, or seminars.

How to apply

- The PCR PPI Seed Fund operates as a rolling scheme, meaning there are no fixed deadlines — you can apply at any time throughout the year.
- Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis, and funding decisions are issued shortly after each review cycle.
- We encourage you to submit your application as soon as your project idea is ready.
- All submissions will be considered in the next available review period.
- If your application is received just after a review point, it will be held for the following cycle.

To be considered for a funding decision in December 2025, applications must be received by 23:59 on Friday 14 November 2025. Applications submitted after this date will be reviewed in the next cycle, with funding decisions announced in Spring 2026.

Next Steps

If your application is successful, the Principal Investigator will be required to submit a one-page report at the end of the project, outlining the project’s outcomes and the impact of the seed fund. This report may include images and diagrams where relevant. Contents of this report may be shared both internally and externally and may feature in our newsletter, website or social media platforms to highlight the success of the project.
