Background

The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) is developing a project focused on cleaning systems for wooden gilded surfaces. This project draws upon the GCI's extensive experience with cleaning systems for acrylic paintings, which can serve as a foundation for cleaning other types of water/polar solvents sensitive surfaces, such as gilded surfaces.

The goal of this specific survey is to get feedback from practitioners regarding their own experience of cleaning wooden gilded surfaces so that we can assess the needs within the field and identify appropriate cleaning systems.
