Overnight Shifts starting at 9pm or 9:30pm (10-14 hours long)

Please read the requirements carefully.

I am an active 27 year old female who lives in the UBC area. Despite having a motor neuron disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and am physically dependent on someone else for all aspects of personal care, I am a recent UBC graduate with a Bachelor of Social Work. I love to read/study (yes, I’m a bit of a nerd!), go for good food (I love ice cream and let's be real, any type of dessert!), go for walks along the seawall, and watch movies.

I am looking for someone to assist me with personal care which consists of getting me ready for bed, administering medication, getting me up in the morning (and occasionally helping with a shower), and turning me 2-3 times/night. I use a Bipap machine at night to help me breathe. You will be able to sleep on a pull-out futon in my room, but must promptly wake up when I call for help. Therefore, if you snore or are a deep sleeper, this position may not be a good fit. I am looking for someone who is responsible, organized, careful, self-directed, and is able to respect my home and privacy. The successful applicant will be starting with one night per week, and is willing to pick up on-call shifts when my other staff are unable to work their scheduled shift.

I am a responsible employer with a decade of experience hiring, training, and working with my assistants. My home is close to the UBC Vancouver campus and is near the 25, 33, 41, 43, 49, 480 and 99 Bus lines.

Comfortable with Personal Care
Light Sleeper and Does Not Snore
Able to Readily Lift 70 lbs. either with a Mechanical Lift or a Two Person Lift
Prompt and Reliable (sick days must be very rare)
Detail-Oriented, Quick Learner
Willing to Take Direction and Work Independently
Strong Communication Skills
Fluent in English
Computer and Smart Phone Savvy
Has a Social Insurance Number
Good References
Must Complete a Criminal Record Check
Experience in the Health Care Field is an Asset, but not a Requirement (I am willing to train)

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you! =)
