Dog Park in Foxboro Interest Study |
Foxboro Dog Park - Where should it go?
There are two parts below. Complete one or both.
1. Petition to stop the Dog Park at Bleachery Pond
2. Survey to gauge Foxboro's current interest in a Dog Park and criteria for placement.
(if you feel strongly either way, please consider listing your name or street, this is the only control we have to make sure this is Foxboro residents ONLY taking this survey)
The Conservation Commission proposes to place the Foxboro Dog Park at Bleachery Pond on Morse Street. The energy and noise of a dog park will forever change the landscape and utility of this tranquil space.
Additional considerations in this location include safety and local appeal. This parcel is located immediately adjacent to the commuter train tracks, within 1000 ft of a Superfund clean up site, along a very narrow street with no sidewalks, in a relatively high traffic area as commuters rush to the train in Mansfield, and immediately adjacent to a sharp turn where there have been multiple accidents. So close to the center of Mansfield, a Dog Park in this location will be more beneficial to Mansfield residents than to residents of Foxboro.
Following the Dog Park lawsuit in 2008, the Strong Town Manager Act was ammended and the Conservation Commission now has sole authority over the uses of conservation land without influence from the Board of Selectmen or Town Manager. A majority vote at the next Conservation Commission meeting will result in phase one of the Dog Park at the Bleachery Pond. Please attend!
