Vendor Evaluation Survey

Steady growth in outsourcing over the last several decades has put greater emphasis on the supply chains of medical device manufacturers. Companies that outsource products and services to reduce costs or improve efficiencies have discovered that the vendors they use to achieve these goals have become more diverse and can be difficult to control.

Many companies are attempting to streamline their approved vendor lists. After all, the device manufacturer bears the ultimate responsibility for the finished product. As part of their Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, manufacturers must evaluate, select and monitor suppliers. That said, even suppliers must closely scrutinize their vendors.

Medical Product Outsourcing would like to examine the various kinds of vendor evaluation programs used by medical device manufacturers and suppliers. To help us gain a better understanding of the vendor evaluation process, the editors of the magazine pose the questions below. Results will appear in an upcoming issue of MPO. Individual comments will remain private.

Thank you for sharing your experience, thoughts and feedback with us.
1.As an OEM, how does your company vendors? Has the process changed recently? If so, how?
2.If you are a supplier to the device industry, have you noticed any change in how your OEM customers evaluate your services?
3.In turn, as a supplier, have you changed the way you evaluate your own vendor base?
4.Any other comments or observations about current vendor evaluation practices?
