Welcome to the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund (SLAF) Needs Survey. The purpose of the Fund is to provide matching grants to local governments for the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater best management practices that address cost efficiency and commitments related to reducing water quality pollutant loads. Please be aware that the SLAF Grants shall be awarded solely for the acquisition of certified nonpoint nutrient credits and capital projects meeting all pre-requirements for implementation, including but not limited to: 1. New stormwater best management practices; 2. Stormwater best management practice retrofits; 3. Stream restorations; 4. Low impact development projects; 5. Buffer restoration; 6. Pond retrofits; and 7. Wetlands restoration.

For additional information and to obtain a copy of the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund Program Guidelines, please visit the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality – Clean Water Financing and Assistance Program website at: https://www.deq.virginia.gov/our-programs/water/clean-water-financing-and-assistance

The purpose of this survey is to identify needs for potential appropriations and awards from the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund (SLAF); therefore, it is important to NOT include costs for any projects that DEQ has previously approved for SLAF grant funding. In an effort to avoid duplicative responses from the same locality please coordinate with the party responsible for submission within your organization.

For this year we have included a PDF snapshot of the survey so that you may gather the appropriate project information prior to entering information into the survey platform.

Important: If you have more than five (5) projects to submit for the FY2025 time period, or have general questions about the survey, please coordinate your submission with Miranda Jaroneski at 804-839-6326 or cwfap@deq.virginia.gov.

Responses to this survey will be due on May 24, 2024.
