A range of natural and human-caused disasters can affect any community. The SYBCI and their Stakeholders work diligently to mitigate threats and prepare for disasters. Natural disasters are those hazards that occur as a force of nature, such as a flood or earthquake. Non-natural disasters are those that occur as part of an intentional act or failure of technology. For the purpose of this plan, non-natural hazards also include health hazards, such as epidemics.
