2019/2020 Living Room Sessions Application Important Information:The 2019 Living Room Sessions are a brand new KickDrum series this year. We will host one show per week from early December until late January on either a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Each show will be hosted in a living room or DIY space in Montreal and include a potluck dinner beforehand. Our aim with this series is to highlight the vibrant DIY scene in Montreal, and to encourage a sense of community amongst musicians, show-goers and hosts. Given that DIY shows require a bit more care and thought to be put on properly/safely, we have some mandatory guidelines for musicians: Due to the potential for noise complaints we will be favouring toned down sets, and vocal-driven acts over loud, amped-up, full band efforts. If your band is one such louder effort and you fear you won't make the cut, you can try to communicate with us ways you will "tone it down" for the Living Room Sessions (a section will be provided lower in the form). Feel free to e-mail or Facebook message us if you are unsure. [ kickdrummtl@gmail.com or www.facebook.com/kickdrumMTL/ ] You will be responsible for bringing most of your own gear, and no sound person will be provided. More often than not there will be a PA available, however some spaces may not have one-- if you are selected we will let you know the particular setup of the venue you have been placed in. Generally though, bands will have to be self-sufficient with everything from mics to amps and instruments. You may invite your own sound person. The venue will have outlets where gear can be plugged in. If you feel your band will not have all the gear it needs, don't worry yet! A section lower in the form will be provided where you can specify what gear might be missing, and we can try to coordinate with the other bands playing that night to share gear. We will be incorporating a potluck aspect to most shows-- the food will be available to everyone and will be served before (and during) the show starting at 7/7:30. More details to follow. Load-in time is 6:00PM. You may soundcheck while being mindful of the other 2 bands that also want to set up. Set times for Thursday shows are 8:30PM, 9:25PM, and 10:20PM. Sets may not exceed 45min and we will have a 10-15min break after each band. Set times on Fridays and Saturdays will be more flexible-- we will email specifics if you are selected to play on one of those nights. Cut-off for each show is at 11:00PM, unless otherwise specified. Bands will be asked to dismantle by 11:15PM, after which, the folks hosting will decide if they want to allow people to hangout later or not. All profits will be split evenly between bands. The show is $5-10/NOTAFLOF.
