Question Title

Thank you for your interest in financial assistance from GOALS.

We believe that the personal growth which comes from participating in a GOALS expedition should be available to every child, but also recognize that cost can be prohibitive.  Therefore, we work very hard to raise money throughout the year that assists those families who need assistance to be involved.

We also believe that simply providing the experience for someone who hasn’t made their own meaningful attempts to raise the money required to participate decreases the potential impact for that child - a spot on a GOALS expedition that has been earned means far more to the participant than the same spot which has been provided as a hand-out.  Therefore, our financial assistance committee thoughtfully reviews each application we receive based on a combination of financial need and demonstrated/planned effort.  The successful applicant is one who exemplifies a significant level of personal commitment and dedication to their GOALS expedition, but needs help getting past the financial investment required.

The application below is to be completed by the PARENT(S) or GUARDIAN(S) of a child who is applying for financial assistance to participate.  A similar application must also be completed by the child to be considered complete.  These applications will be reviewed and considered together.

There will be two funding rounds in 2017.  For round 1, applications are due no later than February 15.  Successful applicants in this round will be notified of their awards by March 1st.  Round 2 applications must be submitted no later than April 15.  Successful applicants in this round will be notified of their awards by May 1st.

Please answer each of the questions below as thoroughly as possible.

Question Title

* 2. The GOALS growth process involves searching, navigating, reflecting, and believing.
Please describe in detail why you believe that your family is a strong applicant for financial assistance from GOALS.

Question Title

* 3. When GOALS was created, our founder was adamant about not only serving one "type of child" - i.e. a specific race, age, gender, or class.  Rather, he felt strongly that every child - regardless of their background - would benefit from spending several days exploring the wilderness and learning valuable lessons that last with them throughout their lives.  How do you anticipate your son/daughter will benefit individually from participating, and how will their group benefit from having them involved?

Question Title

* 4. Imagine that the GOALS staff member who will be leading your river expedition sat down with your child's teachers, and asked them to describe your son/daughter.  What do you think their teacher(s) would tell them about your child?

Question Title

* 5. We hope you'll view this as a fundraising partnership between your family, your child, and the GOALS supporters who help raise money throughout the year so that every interested kid can experience a GOALS river expedition.
Regarding your part of this partnership, please describe how you plan to help your child - through personal contributions or by assisting them in their fundraising efforts.  In your plan, please specifically describe the total cost of their GOALS expedition, and the amount of support you are asking for from GOALS.

Question Title

* 6. Is there anything else that you think is important for the GOALS financial assistance committee to know before submitting your application?

Thank you for taking the time to complete this application.  When you have reviewed your answers and feel confident that they set you apart from all others as a very well qualified applicant, please submit them using the button below. Once you hit that button, your responses can not be changed.
