Welcome!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:
Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and talents with YES!

As an organization that engages Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPoC) and other marginalized groups in the Richmond Community, YES strives to cultivate a loving and inclusive community free of anti-blackness, racism and colorism.

We welcome volunteers who are committed to race equity and who are willing to envision and create a world where we uplift each other and see each other’s strengths. At YES we celebrate the richness of our varied histories, contributions and cultures. We ask that folks entering the YES Community enter with love and kindness.

Many of us are on different paths on this journey to learn what we can do individually and collectively to advocate for a just world. We also recognize that racism is deeply ingrained in our society and shows up in our day to day lives. Therefore we understand that there are times when - even with our best intentions- we may impact other people negatively. YES’s intention is to create a space where, when this happens among volunteers, participants and/or staff, all involved can come together to share feedback, take the necessary actions to take accountability and learn from these experiences.

Volunteers, staff or participants who make or demonstrate anti-black, racist, colorist, sexist, ageist or any other derogatory statements or behaviors will be required to make sincere amends and may result in YES ending their participation in future YES activities.

If this message aligns with your values, and you are committed to do this work internally and externally, we invite you to fill out this form to get started volunteering with us and being part of the YES community.
