Your participation is important!

Each year, the District Calendar Committee, along with members from each area of the school district, identifies several calendar options for the following *instructional school year. The results from this survey support the recommendation from the District Calendar Committee to the Superintendent of Schools. Ultimately, the School Board makes the final determination for the calendar.

Before completing the survey, review each of the calendars carefully - each has a unique set of attributes.

Calendar A

Calendar Option A is similar to the calendar from this school year.  There are six Early Release Days scheduled, one in each of the following months:  August, September, October, January, February and March.  Most are scheduled for the last Wednesday of the month with an exception in October due to PSAT/SAT testing.

Calendar B

Calendar B is a modification of the concept that was presented last school year for the first time. The idea is to place Early Release Days closer together so professional development days can be linked together. When PD days are closer together administrators can cover whole topics, such as the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) across a 5-6 week plan. When PD days are further apart (as they are currently), many PD topics are isolated from one Early Release Day to another.

The modification to last year’s calendar option is the splitting of the Early Release Days between the 1st and 3rd 9 weeks as opposed to all six in the beginning of the year. This creates more parity for semester long secondary courses and avoids the holiday-heavy 2nd 9 weeks as well as Spring Break and testing during the 4th 9 weeks
