Aquatic Plant
Management Plan Update

The City of Sturgeon Bay is in the process of updating the Sturgeon Bay Aquatic Plant Management Plan.  The current plan was completed in 2019.  The WDNR requires an updated Aquatic Plant Management Plan be created every five years to continue to receive permits related to aquatic plant management activities, such as mechanical harvesting and herbicide treatments.  The updated plan will be implemented starting in 2024.  During the summer of 2023, several surveys will be completed on Sturgeon Bay to gather current information about the Bay’s aquatic plant community.

An important aspect in the development of an effective aquatic plant management plan is the input of the people that use and care for the waterbody.  This survey is being offered in order to give Bay-users the opportunity to express their views and concerns.  The results of the survey will be incorporated into the Sturgeon Bay Aquatic Plant Management Plan.

The survey is available to all adults who recreate or conduct business with any type of watercraft on Sturgeon Bay and those people that own or manage a marina or business that offers seasonal or transient dockage on the Bay.

Please only complete one survey.  The survey will be open through September 30, 2023.
