KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
1. Design and preparation of plans, specifications, estimates for highway lighting, traffic control systems, traffic management systems, bridge and tunnel electrical systems, and electrical control systems
2. Electrical and electronic theory as applied to highway lighting, traffic control systems, traffic management systems, bridge and tunnel electrical systems, and electrical control systems
3. Principles and practices of traffic engineering as they apply to highway lighting, traffic control systems, traffic management systems, and bridge and tunnel electrical systems, and electrical control systems
4. Various codes and field practices governing the design and installation of highway lighting, traffic control systems, traffic management systems, bridge and tunnel electrical systems, and electrical control systems
5. Basic occupational safety and health regulations contained in the Title 8 Industrial Relations, Electrical Safety Orders
6. Safety and health policies and procedures as contained in the Department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program
7. Materials and construction costs for highway lighting, traffic control systems, traffic management systems, bridge and tunnel electrical systems, and electrical control systems
8. Computer-based network equipment for traffic management systems
9. District and Division functions, policies, procedures, standards, and operations
10. Contract standards, design and construction practices, and the State Contract Act
11. Systems engineering methodology
12. Project management, contract management, and contract administration processes and techniques
13. Current and emerging intelligent transportation systems applications and technologies
14. Applicable state and federal laws
15. Methods, tools, and equipment used in electrical and electronic construction work
