Definitions of Awards:

John (Jack) Gallivan Legacy Award:
The John (Jack) Gallivan Legacy Award honors individuals, organizations, or businesses whose sustained leadership and vision have profoundly advanced affordable housing and community development in Utah. Named in memory of Jack Gallivan, a tireless advocate for people experiencing homelessness, this award reflects a legacy of awareness-building, resource creation, and long-term impact. Jack’s work helped catalyze major housing developments serving chronically homeless individuals and families across Salt Lake County. This award recognizes extraordinary commitment, coalition-building, and leadership demonstrated over many years. It celebrates those whose enduring service has meaningfully improved housing stability and opportunity for Utah’s most vulnerable communities.

Person of the Year:
The Person of the Year Award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to expanding affordable housing in Utah. This award recognizes those who go beyond their formal role to advocate for housing access and preservation. Individuals from all professions are encouraged, reflecting the diverse leadership needed to solve housing challenges.

Member of the Year: The Member of the Year Award recognizes a member organization of the Utah Housing Coalition that has gone above and beyond to advance the Coalition’s mission. This award honors exceptional engagement, collaboration, and leadership in strengthening affordable housing efforts statewide. It celebrates members who consistently step up in service, advocacy, and partnership.

Agency of the Year: The Agency of the Year Award recognizes a nonprofit, for-profit, or local government agency making significant contributions through innovation, leadership, and community impact. This award honors agencies that serve people in creative, equitable, and forward-thinking ways while fostering strong workplace practices and community involvement. It highlights organizations that exceed expectations and lead with purpose and integrity.

Service Provider of the Year: The Service Provider of the Year Award recognizes an organization or team delivering exceptional, direct services that support housing stability and client success. This award honors providers who demonstrate compassion, effectiveness, and innovation while meeting people where they are. It celebrates frontline work that creates meaningful, lasting outcomes for individuals and families.

Housing Leader on the Hill: The Housing Leader on the Hill Award recognizes elected officials who demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing the affordable housing needs of lower-income Utahns. This award honors leaders who champion policies that preserve existing housing and expand development capacity. It celebrates effective advocacy, collaboration, and public leadership at the state level.
