Activity Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to: As a result of attending this educational activity, each participant will be able to identify the elements of bioethical principles and apply them to patient care. Participants will not only enhance their own knowledge of bioethics, but also offer patients and their families comprehensive bioethical information. This information will facilitate in making difficult or major life-changing decisions, thus, offering peace of mind to the physician, patient, and family alike.
1. Identify specific medical situations and assess them in the light of bioethical principles.
2. Be able to convey to patients and their families’ bioethical guidelines surrounding end of life issues such as: withdrawal of medical care, food nutrition and hydration, artificial ventilation.
3. Deepen the understanding of the role that spirituality plays in the well-being of the medical professional as well as its healing effect on the patient.
