Program Information

We are inviting organizations to apply to participate in our Board Organizational Preparedness (BOP) program. After demonstrating readiness to engage diverse candidates and diminish historically harmful cultures and practices of exclusion, selected nonprofits will receive training rooted in IDEAL (inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and liberation) principles to help ensure organizational readiness and bolster their commitment to fostering an inclusive board culture.

This application deadline is January 28, 2022. Organizations will be evaluated and accepted in February. Curriculum will begin in March when organizations will send their ED/CEO and Board Chair to CEN's IDEAL Program. An additional private training experience will be provided for BOP organizations in April before hosting a board-matching event, where CEN's BRB cohort of individuals can connect with BOP organizations to explore the possibility of working together to further their collective community impact.
Program Fee: $1,000 ($900 for BAIPOC-led organizations).
Fee includes:
  • One-Year CEN Membership (value $100-$250)
  • Registration for ED/CEO and Board Chair to attend CEN’s IDEAL Program March 15 & 17 (value $1,000)
  • Registration for ED/CEO, Board Chair and up to 2 additional board members to attend special BOP session on April 7 (value $200)
  • Registration for ED/CEO, Board Chair and up to 2 additional board members to attend Board Matching Event on April 21 in conjunction with CEN’s Building Representative Boards Cohort (value $250)
  • 25% discount for 2023 BOP program (provides organizations with an opportunity to send new or additional leadership through the program and/or connect with the next BRB cohort at the 2023 Matching Event, at a discounted rate)
All events are virtual via Zoom. Attendance of IDEAL Program and BOP training session are required for organizations to attend and participate in the Board Matching Event.
