A Story About a Transparency Failure

In this month’s Kingpins Show Founder’s Letter, Andrew Olah tells the story of a transparency initiative in the cotton supply chain that, despite providing seed-to-bale environmental data, was not adopted by the industry. What remains in its absence is fundamentally non-transparent. Andrew shared his opinion on the subject and now he’s asking for yours. He created the following poll and we hope you participate and answer these eight questions. It will give us valuable insight that we hope to share with our community and the cotton industry.
8 Poll Questions
1.Do you care if anything you buy has environmental data?
2.Do you like the idea of having a label on all apparel that states the full story on co2, water and energy use the way food labels tell you their details?
3. Do you want your jeans to tell you where the cotton is from? I mean EXACTLY.
4.Do you think it’s your human right to know how cotton was grown specifically in your jeans?
5.By PLOT?
6. Do you feel as an industry member that BCI cotton means “BETTER COTTON?”
7. Do you think USTP cotton means Better Cotton?
8.Do you think this poll is a waste of your time?
