Relatives and nurses repeatedly report unexpected and spontaneous lucid phases in cognitively impaired, including demented, patients and relatives. Most often, the unexpexted return of mental lucidity phases are reported relatively shortly before the person's death.
About this study:
This study, conducted at the Viktor Frankl Chair at the International Academy of Philosophy, University of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and the Center for Consciousness Science at the University of Michigan seeks to further our understanding of episode of unexpected mental clarity, especially if the episode takes place in close proximity to the death of the person In the end, this research shall serve both patients, their relatives, and their caregivers.
