SMEWRIP Rebate Application

Program Summary:  
The Michigan Office of Climate and Energy (OCE) is offering rebates to small manufacturers in Michigan to implement energy efficiency activities that can be completed between October 1, 2019 and July 31, 2020.  The maximum rebate award is $15,000 per company, with a minimum 100% match requirement.  Awards will be given on a first come first serve basis with the objective of funding a highly diversified range of energy efficiency activities.  See SMEWRIP website for additional information and example activities.

Eligibility Requirements: 
Any manufacturer located in Michigan with five hundred (500) or fewer employees worldwide is eligible to apply.  Applicant must be in good standing with the State of Michigan.  Proposed activities must lead to onsite energy savings at the Michigan manufacturing facility.    

Fuel switching, renewable energy, LED focused proposals, LED projects without advanced controls, and activities involving new construction, ground breaking, new/modified environmental permits, and modification of historical buildings are ineligible. 

Funding Amount: 
The maximum rebate award is $15,000 per company.  All rebates require a minimum 100% match.  The OCE reserves the right to issue awards / award amounts reflecting program priorities (See SMEWRIP website).

Rebate eligible expenditures include contractual services, supplies/materials, equipment items costing less than $5,000 and other direct costs.  Any equipment item costing over $5,000 may be applied as match only.  Ineligible expenditures include salaries/wages, fringe benefits, travel, and indirect costs.  Expenditures incurred prior to award notification and outside the 10/01/19 - 07/31/20 time period are additionally ineligible.
