Question Title

* 1. Name: Nishat Jabin
Firm: Capital One, corporate restructuring group
IWIRC Board Position Being Sought Substantive Events Co-chair

I have held various roles in the restructuring industry for over three years. I am an active member of IWIRC NY and cherish the support and professional network I have gained in this chapter. I have had the opportunity to work at some of the distinguished firms in the industry (Alix Partners and Zolfo Cooper) before moving in-house at Capital One’s workout and restructuring group, where I represented both debtors and creditors in distressed situations. I analogize restructuring and turnaround deals with the game of chess, where thinking creatively and timing solutions correctly have a lasting effect on the whole deal and the stakeholders. Just like chess, knowing the best practices and having applicable knowledge helps win the deal. I am running for Substantive Events Co-chair because I believe equipping IWIRC members with education and expertise will support their success. My involvement with Turnaround Management Association’s Next-Gen Committee and in my role in University of Virginia’s Women in Finance Group have given me the skills to facilitate such events and have prepared me to be an effective Substantive Co-chair.

Question Title

* 2. Name: Sharmeen Khan
Occupation: Senior Director, Corporate Finance & Restructuring, FTI Consulting
IWIRC Board Position Being Sought: Substantive Events Co-Chair

I have had the honor of holding the Substantive Events Co-Chair position with IWIRC NY for the past two years and would love to renew my role in the upcoming term. I have actively organized IWIRC’s multiple substantive events that have taken place in the past two years along with fulfilling responsibilities as a Board member. As an experienced restructuring professional and financial advisor, I have always been passionate about combining our professional skills with industry acumen – and the numerous events hosted by IWIRC NY, especially the substantive ones, have allowed me to do just that. Additionally, being on the Board and in an organizing role at IWIRC NY has allowed to me work closely with some highly accomplished and diverse female professionals in our field as well as foster both professional network and personal friendships. Especially as we continue to adjust in our respective businesses in this virtual world – enhancing substantive acumen feels even more timely and necessary than ever before. That’s why I would love the opportunity to renew my role as Substantive Events Co-Chair and continue to organize meaningful events and learn from exceptional peers in the upcoming term.

IWIRC Board Position Being Sought: Substantive Events Co-Chair

 Jen’s experience spans both private and government sectors and a number of industries, including aerospace and defense; food and beverage; and broad government services. Her experience includes contingency planning, cash management, bankruptcy execution, M&A synergy analysis, and strategic planning. Previously, she led private-equity and debt fund due diligence teams at Wilshire Associates and served as career staff in the White House Office of Management and Budget, including overseeing the nearly $3 billion annual capex budget for the Federal Aviation Administration.  Jen has an MBA and a Master of International Development from the University of Pittsburgh.
