Summer Leadership Institute
The Summer Leadership Institute is a program for high school girls entering grades 9th – 12th during the 2022 - 2023 school year. The Summer Leadership Institute will educate, engage, and inspire girls to be future voters, leaders, and candidates by building knowledge and skills while instilling positive attitudes towards politics and leadership.
This summer we are excited to offer two online programs under the Summer Leadership Institute for youth to choose from; Youth Lead Now! and Youth for Health and Justice, from June 20th - July 15th (no program Monday, July 4th).
Youth Lead Now!
Youth Lead Now! educates, engages, and inspires girl identified youth to be future voters, candidates, and leaders in the community by building knowledge and skills while instilling positive attitudes towards political advocacy, organizing, and leadership. Using interactive and fun activities and learnings, teens will build their understandings of civic engagement, representation of women and other marginalized groups in local and national political movements, and have a blast with each other as they work to create their own ideas and dreams for their future and their communities. This is an educational and nonpartisan initiative, and youth will work together to complete a Community Service Project by the end of the program.
Youth for Health & Justice
Youth for Health & Justice is for girl identified youth who are looking to be a part of the movement for equity and respect for all. In this summer program, teens will learn about the movement to ensure a future where everyone has access to quality healthcare- focusing on reproductive health inequities in our communities and country. Teens will get the knowledge and tools to become powerful advocates for themselves and their loved ones, learning their reproductive health rights as young people and exploring the gaps that exist in our country that result in women, girls, BIPOC folks, and LGBTQIA+ folks lacking complete access to health services they deserve. Teens will share and learn in a safe and open space where they can create connections with each other and their facilitator, all while gaining self-advocacy skills that will support them for a lifetime. At the end of the summer program, they will work together on a fun art or media project focused on raising awareness for others about the importance of reproductive health.
Youth will get a $100 stipend for participation and project completion.
