HAVE YOUR SAY BY FRIDAY 31 MAY 2019

This survey aims to capture feedback and ideas which will support the council's plans to develop a digital strategy as part of our transformation programme, working with citizens and in collaboration with our partners across the county to make as much progress and pace as possible.

What is a digital strategy?
It's a document which sets out how an organisation plans to use new technologies like artificial intelligence or applications (apps) to make it easier and faster for their customers to access the services that they provide.

The strategy would set out an approach for Powys to take advantage of digital technologies to transform the way we work, how we use information, support our customers, improve resident opportunities and help our businesses to be competitive. Our draft digital strategy will set out how, by taking advantage of the latest technologies that people have access to, (in their homes, communities and environments), we can improve well-being through the complete digital landscape.

Why is it needed?
Digital technology is here to stay and is already having a big impact on all our lives.  In the council this presents us with new opportunities to become more efficient and give people access to the services they need at the touch of a button.

There are numerous digital products on the market and having a clear strategy will help ensure we focus on the things that will deliver most for our residents.

By investing in digital technologies our staff will also be better placed to deliver services using a range of options.

What are the benefits of these digital tools?
Digital technologies are helping councils to connect and respond quickly to residents needs, foster local economic growth, reduce overheads and deliver services more efficiently.

We know that broadband connectivity, Wi-Fi and mobile signals can be a real problem for both communities and businesses in the county and we are working to tackle the broader issues around this with telecommunication providers.

This survey is the start of an ongoing engagement process to capture views and ideas to develop a progressive 21st century digital strategy for Powys County Council.  It won't be the only opportunity to contribute.  We are looking to set up a virtual engagement group and are looking for volunteers with a passion or expertise in the field of digital.

This initial survey closes at midnight on Friday 31 May 2019.  Please do contribute your views.
