ATC values diversity and aspires to attract qualified individuals from all backgrounds and of varying abilities to participate in their programs and activities. Through ensuring an inclusive environment ATC can create a safe working or recreational atmosphere in which all people feel valued and respected and have access to the same opportunities.
While ATC does not specialize in serving persons with disabilities, we often accommodate persons of ‘varying abilities’ and are able to include people of different ages, gender, skill levels, and outdoor experience, making the necessary program and activity modifications to ensure a safe, successful, and enjoyable experience for everyone. Therefore, ATC encourages people of ALL abilities to consider participating in ATC programs.
The ATC is currently accepting applications for novice hikers interested in an educational and informative experience to prepare them for a long-distance hike. The courses will help new hikers feel prepared to successfully hike the A.T. while gaining an appreciation for the outdoors, knowledge of the A.T., and exposure to long-distance hiking culture. Course graduates should leave these programs as competent, responsible hikers prepared to accomplish their version of a successful A.T. hike.

-May 10-12 (Pisgah National Forest)
