Skin bleaching is the process of using substances, mixtures, chemicals, and/or physical treatments to lighten skin tone.  As a result of colorism, which is a form of discrimination based on skin tone that typically privileges lighter-skinned individuals and penalizes darker-skinned individuals, skin bleaching persists and is a worldwide epidemic.  This talk will explore the ways in which skin bleaching affects Blacks.  Join Dr. Ufuoma Abiola, a race scholar with expertise in colorism, identity, and EISJ (equity, inclusion, and social justice), for a discussion on skin bleaching and Blacks on Thursday, April 8 at 5:00 PM-6:15 PM EST via Zoom.
