Help us identify cases of innovation and best practice in MPA/ MMA management in the Caribbean!

The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) is asking for your help to identify cases of innovation and best practice by Caribbean civil society on approaches for marine and coastal governance and management.

Under the Powering Innovations in Civil Society and Enterprises for Sustainability in the Caribbean (PISCES) project, CANARI will document and publish at least 8 case studies and share them throughout the region, especially among fisherfolk organisations (FFOs), community-based organisations (CBOs) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

CANARI will give full recognition to the organisations that implemented the best practice activities and will credit all material as such.

Criteria for identification of cases

Cases of innovation and best practice must:
  • be in a Caribbean island
  • be focused on marine and coastal governance or management within a Marine Protected Area (MPA)/ Marine Managed Area (MMA)
  • be implemented by a Caribbean fisherfolk organisation (FFO), community-based organisation (CBO) or a non-governmental organisation (NGO)
  • contribute to biodiversity conservation and/ or sustainable livelihoods.
